Who is the moskitOS for?

The moskitOS is primarily designed to comfortably cover several dozen kilometres in rural areas, its low position and medium turning radius (4m minimum) making it less suited to city use. With its progressive incline and low centre of gravity, it’s great for cornering, and its low weight will delight sports enthusiasts looking for a thrill. It will also greatly satisfy landscape enthusiasts, whose riding position allows them to admire the scenery to the full. Lastly, as the moskitOS is not available for direct sale, it is aimed at people who are ready to learn and invest in building their own means of transport, while at the same time wanting to create links and share knowledge during an assisted self-build course.

It comes in two versions, with a heel-to-toe distance of between 750 mm and 850 mm (short version) and between 850 mm and 950 mm (long version), the difference being the longer or shorter metal front forks. In the case of the short version, it is advisable to use a hub with integrated gears (such as Shimano Nexus or Alfine) to avoid ‘crossing’ the shortened chain too much and causing it to rub against the derailleur frequently. The long version makes do with a standard cassette. The rest of the chassis remains identical.

How much does it cost?

Approximately €1000 if the bike components (crankset, derailleurs, etc.) are recovered, more if not. All the details are available in the equipment list below, so you can make your own budget precisely 😉

How do you build it?

You can build your moskitOS either during a training course (nice tools and team available, meeting great people in general 😉 ) or on your own. In the 2nd case, we suggest you start by checking whether building is within your capabilities. To do this, you can either order the kit of beautifully machine-cut wooden parts for €200 (see here) and assemble it using the assembly guides below, or you can buy a wooden panel directly (-> list of materials below) and saw it yourself (-> plans below).

If the assembly goes well, you can then:

  • Order the rest of the materials -> materials list below
  • Check that you have access to the necessary tools -> tools list below
  • Order (-> ask on the forum) or build a front fork (-> fork plans below)

Then build the rest of your moskitOS. If you need help, you can find it on the forum 😉

Drawings

Print out the moskitOS drawings and follow the construction guide below. The fork plans will be useful if you want to make one yourself or have one made. Otherwise visit the forum for the next group order.

Equipment and tools required

First of all, the list of tools and accessories required is available below, followed by the equipment list in the form of a downloadable table. It may seem rather long, but take the time to read it carefully and don’t forget anything. Allow several hours to research and find, collect, buy or order the many components, it takes time and that’s normal, so take it ;). As far as the fork is concerned, we may have some in stock or we’ll be organising a group order soon, just ask us. And if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask the community on the forum. ATTENTION: The non-conformity of a part or the absence of a tool or accessory probably makes it impossible to build the trike! If it’s at home it’s not a big deal, but there will be a lot of disappointed people at a workshop…

Manufacturing instructions

The manufacturing instructions are currently only available in French, but you can easily translate them with google translate, deepl or other programmes (PDF). Thank you for your understanding 😉
